Could someone please translate this saying? "Duv bie viejvollen Leuie" My family/descendants is from Lancaster PA but I do not know the language of Pennsylvania German. I found this saying on-line and I do not know if it is a real saying or made up. I just was curious to know what it means. Thank you for your help. Here is the link to the box that the saying is on: www.modcloth.com/store//ModCloth/Apartment/Pencil-vania+Dutch+Box

Hi Michele,
I think that's funny in a way. At first I thought it was just an odd spelling. Pennsylvania doesn't really have one "standard" spelling, although there's two main styles and this didn't look like either.
I only have a small exposure to regular Dutch, the language of the Netherlands (which is different in origin from Pennsylvania Dutch). From the spelling, I think that's what it is.
So I went on a web site that guesses the language and it said "Dutch". I'm thinking this phrase is Holland Dutch, not Pennsylvania Dutch. When someone put it that box, they may not have known that Pennsylvania Dutch isn't related to Holland Dutch when they made that up.
Since Holland Dutch is more common, I tried pasting it in on babblefish translators, but couldn't get it to come up with anything.
Sorry I can't be more helpful...
